Not all of my availability is on there, so If you can’t find anything to suit, message me and I’ll see what I can do.
Q. What gender are Sports Massages for?
I am happy to see clients of any gender.
However, I will always have someone present with me in the salon.
Q. Can a child have sports massage? What is the age range?
I can work with any age, however, if the person if under 18, I must have a parent/guardian present with my in the treatment area.
Where children are concerned, I take more caution, the pressure is reduced, and extra reassurance will be given.
Maximum age? I’ve not found one yet, my oldest client so far is 84.
Q. Is sports massage painful?
Sports massage includes various techniques including deep tissue massage. During treatment, I visit various techniques depending on the need of the client. Where I need to get deeper, I need to apply more pressure.
However, let me reassure you, that I will always work within your own personal pain threshold. Muscles may feel sore after being worked but will feel better for better blood flow. Please don’t ever be afraid of asking me to use less pressure. We will still get good results.
Q. Can I have a sports massage with skin problems
The basic answer is yes absolutely – Mostly it depends on you. I cannot work on open sores, or where a rash/bruise/condition is painful, or anything that is contagious.
The only other information I need, is allergy advice, I use a basic Wheatgerm Oil with lavender. If there is anything you cannot tolerate on your skin, let me know in good time, so I can make sure I have the correct oils available. Try not to be embarrassed, I am not here to judge you, I am here to help you heal. The effects of massage improve blood flow to the skin, so may leave you feeling better anyway.
Q. Why does sports massage work
Sports massage works, because we use various techniques alongside each other. I start the massage by warming the muscles up, through long gliding strokes, which gives the client chance to get used to me and gives me an initial chance to look for things I may need to concentrate on.
This increases blood flow to the muscles, helps the client warm up and relax. I am then able to change techniques, depending on what I find to manipulate any problem areas.
My whole goal is to release tight muscles, improve blood flow, clear lymphatic blockages, and break down scar tissue. All of these leave the body in a state of readiness to heal.
Improved blood flow through a muscle allows the body to continue flushing any toxins out, and repair as needed. Broken down scar tissue signals to the body that a part of the muscle needs to be rebuilt, but with no threat to life it can take it’s time and do a good job, leaving the muscle much more flexible and able.
The effects of sports massage on blood flow lasts for up to 48 hours, which is why people often feel good after the massage, and better in the days following.
Q. Why should I get sports massage
Most people would benefit from a sports massage. On a seemingly healthy individual, a full body massage (Neck, shoulders, arms, torso, legs) will improve both blood and lymphatic circulation helping to flush out toxins (waste products produced by the body) leaving the client feeling fresher and ready for another day.
A regular massage is useful to people who play sports, or have a physical job, as it keeps the muscles working well, helping to prevent injury.
Many people get a pre and/or post massage for intense exercise, for maximum performance and recovery.
Injury or surgical recovery, massage helps the body to heal, by removing toxins from the area, increasing blood flow to the site, and working on scar tissue to keep the muscles working effectively.
Many people contact me for pain relief, I have seen many clients with fibromyalgia, for example, to give them some short-term relief.
Niggles, those aches we just live with – It’s worth checking out as often they are a sign of another problem. I can work with clients to understand and correct the problem before it eventually leads to injury.
There are many reasons for massage, if you are still unsure, please get in touch and we can have a chat before you decide.
